Single-use plastics, including plastic bags, beverage bottles, straws, cutlery, and food containers, are designed for a short lifespan, meant to be used once and then thrown away. This convenience comes at a significant cost to our environment, contributing to pollution and waste accumulation in our ecosystems.

To date, we have made two presentations entitled “Rethinking Plastics” to residents in Montrose. Together, we explored affordable alternatives to single-use plastics as a step toward making a positive impact on our environment. Each event included short thought-provoking films, educational displays, and engaging discussions.

Refreshments were provided, and, thanks to a grant from the Rocky Mountain Conference, the event was free and open to everyone! All attendees received a compostable bag filled with eco-friendly products to try at home.
