Open and Affirming (ONA) Sunday is an annual worship service in many United Church of Christ (UCC) congregations that publicly affirms and celebrates the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people and all people of every identity within the church community.
ONA Sunday is both a spiritual renewal and a public declaration of love and inclusion, reminding the church that God’s call is to live fully, authentically, and fearlessly in community. The UCC’s Open and Affirming designation means the church actively welcomes and affirms all people, especially those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other gender and sexual identities.
On ONA Sunday, we reaffirm that differences are precious gifts and that no one should hide their identity out of fear of rejection.
You are encouraged to wear rainbow colors to worship this Sunday!
