What To Expect

Real. Relevant. Relational.

We’re so glad that you’re considering paying a “virtual visit” to Community Spirit Church!

We know it can be a challenge to enter a new community, especially during these uncertain times, but we hope you’ll find a friendly welcome and comfortable atmosphere when you join us. Community Spirit UCC is a small congregation of singles and families, elders and young folks, dyed-in-the-wool churchgoers and people who are new to faith and to the church—all coming together to encounter a loving and accepting God.

We hope this page will answer some of your questions, but we believe that the best way to get to know us is, well, to get to know us.

We are a progressive community of faith in the heart of Colorado’s western slope. We gather each Sunday morning at 10:30 AM using Zoom video conferencing. All you need is a phone or a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, along with the weekly link to access the online service.

Relaxed Atmosphere

True to the style of western Colorado, attire is generally casual ranging from t-shirts and jeans to jackets and ties. Please dress in what is most comfortable for you.

Guests will not be singled out, but will be given the opportunity to quietly observe and engage however you feel led. Please feel free to introduce yourself to others as you arrive in the virtual Zoom conference room.

Children

We love having children in our worship gathering. They are always welcome and are considered to be as vital to the Community Spirit family as anyone.

Discussions

Our messages are designed to be interactive in nature, so it is not uncommon for a few moments to be set aside throughout the teaching to discuss what is being talked about. This serves as an opportunity to engage as a community while exploring how the teaching applies to our individual and corporate lives.

Communion

On the first Sunday of each month, we pause to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Everyone is welcome to share in the feast of remembrance. During this time of online worship, you are encouraged to prepare something to remember Jesus’ selfless love. This may be crackers and wine, but can just as easily be other things. It’s the remembering that is important; the elements are symbolic.

Offerings

Like many other churches, giving financial support for the ministries that God has called us to is a part of our worship. Our guests are not expected to give, but you are free do so if you choose. You can mail a check (payable to Community Spirit Church) to 1516 Barbara Street, Montrose CO 81401-5114 or make an online donation at communityspiritucc.org/give. If you would like a tax-deductible statement sent to you at the end of the year, please include your name and address.

Welcome Card

Normally, we would have “welcome cards” available for you to fill out and leave in the collection plate. During these strange times, you are encouraged to share your contact information with us on our virtual form.

Fellowship Time

After the worship service concludes, you are invited to stay online and visit so we can get to know you better.

If you have any questions before attending a worship service, please feel free to contact Pastor Karen at 970-765-7070 or send an email to revkaren@communityspiritucc.org.
