You are invited to take part in a most sacred moment in the life of our occasional Zoom preacher, Candace Woods. At 7 PM on Monday, August 21st, Candace will come before the Rocky Mountain Conference for her Ecclesiastical Council, the last leg on her journey to ordination. After sharing her faith journey, key elements of her theological framework, as well as her sense of call to ordained ministry, those who attend this online gathering will have an opportunity to ask questions and offer affirmations. And then those who are eligible will vote to clear Candace for ordination, pending a call.
This moment in Candace’s life is the culmination of many years of sacrifice, study, prayer, discernment, trials, errors, and maybe even a few tears. Our support of her on August 21st will affirm her time with us by Zoom and will also leave us with a clearer sense of the arduous, blessed journey a person makes when they move toward ordination in the United Church of Christ. Speaking as someone whose own Ecclesiastical Council (back in 1998) barely had a quorum, I know how very important it is that the members and friends of the church show up for someone who has already and will continue to show up for us with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
